STLS Pleased to Announce New Executive Director, Brian Hildreth

The Southern Tier Library System Board of Trustees at its August 13th meeting will appoint Brian Hildreth to the position of Executive Director effective September 16.  He is currently director of the Howe Library, Wellsville, where he served for eight years. Hildreth has a master’s degree in Library Science from Syracuse University  and a Marketing degree from Florida Atlantic University.

Hildreth has just been elected President of the Public Library Section of the New York Library Association and is the 2010 recipient of the New York Library Association Mary Bobinski Innovative Public Library Director Award. In his tenure at the Howe Library he has been instrumental in increasing the Wellsville library tax levy by 322%, raising $715,000 for library renovations, and securing in excess of $875,000 in public and private grants for library projects. The Library System Board is confident that Brian Hildreth will continue the great tradition of creative leadership in the Southern Tier Library System. He is looking forward to working with all system librarians and reading centers to meet their customer needs.
